Working My Way Back

To all those who have honored me in following my blogs and sending your prayers, thank you so much.

Please don’t give up on me.

This has been a very difficult time for our family.  Although I have slowly began to get back to work, taking on projects and working in the studio, it is a slow process.  I was thinking back over the last four years and our family has really been hit hard.  We have lost 6 immediate family members, 4 others have been in serious accidents but all but one have recovered well, the economy hit us very hard forcing us to make hard decisions and change the way we live, and now I have taken on another role of caregiver.

For those who do not know, we lost our son on September 4th this year.  It had been very hard to accept but we are beginning to make progress with the Lord’s guiding hand.  We have been surrounded by so many that loved him.  Several people put together 2 separate benefits which were wonderful to help raise money to pay for final expenses.  Our family is so thankful to all who helped us during this time.  Austin was loved by many and will live on through all of us.

My love, Smokey, is still recovering from his accident back in March.  Still having problems with his lungs and now hoping that all will be okay and ready for the next surgery, number 4, tentatively scheduled November 2nd.

It is said that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and that the Lord never gives us more than we can handle.  If you know me then you already know that I believe God’s Word.  All of it.  Even those parts I don’t understand or like!  I have made that choice to believe, have faith in, trust, rely on and lean on God.  So to act or do differently would be going against that choice.

I am not sure what to do, or rather, what God has for me to do from here.  But I am ready.

Lord,

Guide and direct me,

Hem me in Your love and protection,

Have mercy and show me Your grace,

Show me way You would have me go,

And then help me go You way.

In Jesus Holy Name,

Amen

There are longer periods of time between my updates, I didn’t get the memo reporting that working 15-16 hr days at 44 yrs old takes a bigger toll on you than when you were younger!  What happened?  The body doesn’t want to go the way it use too! Who works 9 to 5 now?

St. Francis of Assisi said it best, “Start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” I don’t know if he meant it to apply to this situation but I think we could do very well it we would apply it to most all situations!

I have made it to my 6th week with my part-time position at Caledonia and True Blue Golf Courses.

I have a new respect for those who clean commercially.  Wow!  Good thing is I have lost weight!  There really is no bad thing, unless getting up at 4am is bad.  For me, it works.  I just have not figured out how to reschedule all the things I use to do in the morning.  Morning is my best time.

I wanted to share with you some projects I have been working on.

My friend Terry Harris

asked for my help on her project that is in process and here are a few pictures of what we have been working on…

I have been the worker bee helper on this project and she is the creative force behind it. The rooms are going to be beautiful when complete!
We also had the blessing to help with an
Our show should be aired in April and I will make sure I let everyone know that is interested!  It was long hard work with little sleep and tremendous blessing.
I have been working on more tee shirts designs and if you haven’t checked them out, please do so.  I am also going to be changing the shop design.  Just as soon as I have time to sit down and learn how to do it!
Go to Zazzle.com/carlaschuchman to see more designs! Also check out Carleysense for more updates!

I was also blessed to participate with others in a mission trip to India.  I completed a painting that came to me in the middle of the night as I was studying the word.  It is my biggest joy to hear God ask, “Carla?” and for Carla to hear Him and reply, “Yes Lord, here I am.”
Here is the painting and the Community Bible Study in Georgetown SC raised over $4000.00 for their mission trip and seed money for another church building.

The words in the painting say,
“When the darkness tries to get me, there’s a light that just won’t let me”
It is taken from the song “Stand Back Up” by Sugerland.
Listen to it here!

With that I leave you until next time.  Hopefully not to long.  Leave comments, or ask any questions you have.

God Bless You and remember we can choose to

I am hopeful that with the New Year there will be much new business.  And although it hasn’t been really busy, I have managed to stay very busy be about the Lord’s business and a little artwork as well.  Here is what I have worked on…

My Carleysense site has a new look and I learned a lot about Photoshop during this process.  I have discovered I really like Photoshop.  I can see how I could become a Photoshop junkie if not careful!

I also learned how to hook up my video camera up as a webcam, upload to imovie, edit (just learning that so there is a big learning curve) and post on my site.

I have opened a Zazzle Store and love this site!  I have had, well should I say; God has put on my heart, these great artistic ideas to spread His Word.  I love shirts with a message and I have had great fun creating them.  Check them out and get yours!
Help spread His Word…

Then I got a call from my dear friend Terry…

Asking me to join her and help on another, my 2nd her first…

Once again we were pushed to our limits, worn out, sleep deprived, slightly food deprived (our own fault) and in the end had huge smiles on our faces and pleased that we got to be a part of something so much bigger than ourselves.

And then, the excitement of that whole trip wore down,I had a small job re-doing a fireplace mantel. Of course I was so tired I forgot before pictures, so just enjoy these after picks!

So there you have it!  January almost wrapped up. I’m working on other things and I post them when it’s time! See you back here soon!

God Bless You and Pass it ON!

Every now and then I have to post something other than my art.  This is about the most wonderful Artist.  It’s about a movie about the most wonderful Artist.  Read on, and God Bless You.

Has anybody seen the movie, The Perfect Gift by Jefferson Moore.  I watched it this morning at 2 am on TBN.

I couldn’t sleep, again.  For different reasons.  Personal family life is being strained, again, different day but the same reason, and I find myself desperately wanting to isolate myself.  I don’t want to be around people, any people and I don’t want to be responsible for anyone, no one.  I don’t want to make any decisions, not for myself or for anyone else.

When I get like this all I can do is close my eyes and say His name.  Jesus.  Jesus. Jesus…

I don’t know what to pray, or what to pray for.  I hurt, I don’t like where I am at and I just want to be back in His arms.  Jesus, Jesus, Jesus…

So when I couldn’t go back to sleep, I got up, went downstairs, started the coffee and turned the tv on.  My normal stop is Fox News, but not tonight.  I knew I needed something, I needed God.  I turned to TBN and there He was, well, His representation that is.

The Perfect Gift was just what I needed.  Everything I feel about Christmas and decorating and the stress of giving gifts no one can afford melted away as I watched this movie.  And I cried at the last scene.  The little girl saying good-bye, as she hugs Him.  In His arms.

All I have to do is close my eyes.

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus…

Diversify!  Diversify!

I have found in our countries economic chaos, that my ability to diversify and more over, my willingness to do so is what actually keeps the wheel rolling.  We are definitely hitting a rocky road, but pulling together with others, finding other outlets for our work and sometimes even doing jobs that just aren’t attractive keep us going.

My dear friend Terri Harris of Harris Arts and I have joined forces to tackle this opportunity together!

She has some of the most awesome ideas for cabinetry and furniture and we are working on creating samples here.

I met with one of my favorite designers yesterday and we have two pieces to put some unique finishes on.  I will keep you up to date on these.  You’ll love them!

I am so excited to work with Terri again.  We have worked together on other jobs over the last few years and not only having we completed the projects in less time, but it has provided an atmosphere for us to learn from each other.  We have different ideas, different areas of expertise, different training and by coming together not only do we have a blast, we also are expanding our own knowledge and abilities.  We keep each other going.  We lift each other up.  We encourage one another!

Recently I have changed my display at the gallery my fine art is in.  I have removed some pieces that just seem to be getting too much attention and distract from the ones that are more relative to the galleries expression.  (Wow, did I just say that like that?)

Here is what the new display looks like.  And for those who can stop by, we are:

We are doing God’s work!

As you can see I am staying busy staying busy.  Oh my I almost forgot.  I am about to launch a new blog site dedicated to the painting, In My Father’s Lap.  I finishing up my testimony and that will be published by the first of next week!  This we be a place to share your story, your testimony and for those who this painting has spoken to, to tell the world what the Lord has shared with you through this painting.  Many have already purchase prints and other items of In My Father’s Lap and the testimony they give is simply amazing and encouraging.  I would them for them to share these stories and this will be a place to do so.  I will be adding a page displaying items for purchase and ministry fundraising ideas.  Watch it grow and bookmark it to come back to and share with those you love!

HEIGHTENED PERSPECTIVE

Please Read all the way to the bottom: If you will take the time to read these. I promise you’ll come away with an enlightened perspective. The subjects covered affect us all on a daily basis:

They’re written by Andy Rooney, a man who has the gift of saying so much with so few words. Enjoy……..

I’ve learned…. That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person..

I’ve learned…. That when you’re in love, it shows.

I’ve learned….20That just one person saying to me, ‘You’ve made my day!’ makes my day.

I’ve learned…. That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.**

I’ve learned…. That being kind is more important than being right.**

I’ve learned…. That you should never say no to a gift from a child.

I’ve learned …. That I can always pray for someone when I don’t have the strength to help him in some other way.

I’ve learned…. That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.

I’ve learned…. That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.

I’ve learned….. That simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an adult.

I’ve learned…. That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

I’ve learned….. That we should be glad God doesn’t give us everything we ask for.

I’ve learned….. That money doesn’t buy class.

I’ve learned…. That it’s those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.

I’ve learned… That under everyone’s hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.

I’ve learned….. That to ignore the facts does not change the facts..

I ‘ve learned..
.. That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.

I’ve learned….. That love, not time, heals all wounds.**

I’ve learned…. That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.

I’ve learned…. That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.

I’ve learned…. That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.***

I’ve learned … That life is tough, but I’m tougher.

I’ve learned… That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.

I’ve learned…. That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

I’ve learned… That I wish I could have told my Dad  and Mom that I love them  one more time before they passed away. ***

I’ve learned …. That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.

I’ve learned…. That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

I’ve learned…. That when your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist, that you’re hooked for life. ****

I’ve learned…. That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.

I’ve learned…. That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

To all of you…. Make sure you read all the way down to the last sentence.

It’s National Friendship Week. Show your friends how much you care. Send this to everyone you consider a FRIEND, even if it means sending it back to the person who sent it to you.
