Well, I got home and there seems to be way more stuff to do than when I left.  I thought I left everything quite tidy, but not so.  That’s another post.

The  great news is that the Sumter Project is almost finished!

Terri is working on the first coat in the Living Room…..

and working around the room…..

Meanwhile, I discover that there is a chip in our Foyer finish!  The light fixture is up, soooooo, I also found the culprit!

This is our beloved Dennis, the electrian…….

And here comes Carla, master fix-it-upper.

What is that?  A closet rod, a paint brush taped to the end?

Ready, set, TOUCH-UP…….

And here it sits until the stone surround is installed.  I know I have teased you a good bit about this finish.  I will give you a hint of what is to come.  Trompe L’oeil stonework, and a custom  Trompe L’oeil tapestry designed in collaboration with designer John Marshall Williams.

That’s it!  That’s all you are going to get for now.  You will have to check back!  I hope you will!

Here Terri completed a air return cover to match the beautiful wood grain of the cabinetry.

Now, relax and enjoy some photos of some of the rooms finished.

Think First!

“So, let’s think about this for a minute.”  That is something I really need to begin every project with.  Getting organized, making sure I have all materials, tools and such.  And mostly making sure the sample I have produced can be reproduced on large walls.  Really large walls.  Sometimes extremely large walls.  Okay, you get the point.

You can refer to my last post of this recent project.  First day things go a little wrong.  No big deal, easy fix.  Second week was a bit more difficult. But I learned so much!  Not realizing that someone had over sprayed lacquer on their trim, ending up on my walls…….

Anyway, the first go around of the finish didn’t stick.  Worse, it had to be scraped off, sanded, primed and then re finished.  Got that done and things were looking up, until….

The mixture I came up with for the glaze was not going on these extremely LARGE WALLS without trouble.  It was drying way too fast.  And having 22 foot of windows for the sun to beam in heating the room up wasn’t helping either.  We repainted that one wall and…..

“Okay, let’s think about this for a minute.”   Now there is a new plan, a new formula, and come Monday, beautiful walls.

Heres a few photos, now I know it doesn’t look like much now, but wait until it’s finished.  You’ll see!
